Gents POCKET GOLD (Circa 1806)
George III solid 18 carat gold pair cased key wind fusee chain drive "Doctors" pocket watch Hallmarked for London 1806. The watch is a very early example to have a seconds dial as generally watches of this age do not have, so would have probably been for a doctor where the indication of the seconds would be useful also the watch has a stop facility which is activated by a slider on the side of the case, The movement is later converted from fusee cylinder to lever escapement, which at the time would have been seen as an upgrade as the lever escapement was more accurate. The watch has a white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds dial and has a fine hairline near the base of the dial and a small chip right on the edge of the dial near the 3 'o' clock position, the watch has its original "bulls eye" glass and both the inner and outer cases are in exceptional condition and are both matching and are both hallmarked for 1806 London and stamped with makers mark TC RC., The watch also comes with a heavy 9 carat yellow gold Albert chain which is stamped on every link and is very heavy ( 52 grams) . If you didn't want the Albert chain the watch can be GBP £1580 without it
